FIRST AID TRAINING
INTRODUCTION
First Aid is the help given in case of an accident or sudden illness before or when a doctor or a medically trained person is NOT available. First Aid includes a set of actions and practices that seek to prevent, be prepared for and provide an initial response to an emergency situation.
When teachers are aware of and skilled in the application of First Aid, significant improvements can be made in the schools and the community. There is need to develop the ability of each teacher in the service of their schools, family and community to save and protect lives, as well as their own health and life
DESCRIPTION OF THIS TRAINING
This course is conducted by THE KENYA RED CROSS. Together with the Institute of Teachers Professional Development (ITPD), we have endeavoured to ensure that this training reflects the relevant guidance from informed authoritative personnel.
While the material contained in this training provides guidance on initial care and treatment, it must not be regarded as a substitute for medical advice.
First aiders are advised to keep up-to-date with developments, to recognise the limits of their competence and to obtain first-aid training from a qualified trainer.
