CBC TEACHERS TRAINING COURSE

Introduction:

Welcome to the Virtual CBC Teachers Training, a transformative 3-day initiative meticulously designed to empower educators with the essential skills and knowledge required for the effective implementation of the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC). Throughout this engaging virtual program, we will immerse ourselves in the foundational principles and goals of CBC, unravel subject-specific curriculum designs, and partake in practical activities geared towards enhancing your interpretation and alignment with the curriculum. Our journey will progress with a focus on nurturing inquiry-based learning, refining professional documents, and seamlessly integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into the CBC framework. Crafted as dynamic, participatory sessions, this virtual experience is tailored to provide you with a rich and interactive learning environment, ensuring you are well-equipped to excel in delivering quality education within the CBC framework.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  1. Effectively implement the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in school.
  2. Utilize requisite skills to facilitate differentiated learning, ensuring engagement of all learners.
  3. Apply necessary skills to supervise and support effective CBC implementation.
  4. Demonstrate a common understanding of CBC concepts during implementation.

Day 1:

Overview of Basic Education Curriculum Framework

  • Competence-Based Curriculum and Basic Education Curriculum Framework
  • Mission and Vision statements, National Goals of Education
  • Pillars of the BECF, Core competencies
  • Organization of Basic Education, Learning areas, and subjects
  • Q&A and discussion

Day 2:

Interpretation of the Curriculum Designs

  • Components of curriculum design
  • National Goals of Education, Level learning outcomes
  • Essence statement, Learning area general outcomes, Strands, and Sub-strands
  • Suggested learning experiences, Key Inquiry Question(s), Core competences
  • Pertinent and Contemporary issues, Values
  • Link to other learning areas, Community Service Learning
  • Non-formal activities, Suggested learning and teaching resources
  • Suggested Assessment methods, Assessment rubric
  • Q&A and reflection

Key Inquiry Questions and Competency-Based Assessment

  • Meaning and characteristics of Key Inquiry Questions
  • Development of Key Inquiry Questions
  • Explanation of the purpose of Competency-Based Assessment (CBA)

Day 3:

Professional Documents 

  • Creating effective Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans
  • Records of Work, Learners’ Progress record and Reports
  • Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Q&A and reflection

ICT Integration in CBC & Action Research

  • Identifying plug-in points for ICT integration in a lesson plan
  • Converting the lesson plan into an ICT integrated lesson
  • Presentation of ICT integrated lessons by participants
  • Identifying challenges and collaborative problem-solving
  • Closing remarks, Q&A, and course evaluation

Each session includes interactive elements such as group discussions, practical exercises, and Q&A to engage participants actively in the virtual training. Encourage participants to share experiences and collaborate on activities, fostering a dynamic and participatory virtual learning environment.
